There is no shortage of reasons for choosing to cycle. Some folks are having a hard time keeping up with the rising cost of gasoline and maintenance bills, so they choose to ride a bike. Some decide to cycle because they want to have less of an impact on the environment when traveling.

And then there are those who choose to cycle because they simply love it. No matter what the reason is for choosing a bicycle, there are some things you should keep in mind before you decide. This doesn't mean you are going to have to spend thousands of dollars on a good bike, because there are ways you can find a great bike for a great price. Always keep in mind that you want to test the bike before you buy it. It is important that you not buy anything before you’ve had the opportunity to ride it at least for a few minutes. Do you know of anyone that would buy a used car without taking it out for a test drive?

Why wouldn’t you do the same with a bicycle? You need to do this especially if you are spending a lot of money on a bike that you know you will use for a long time. You need to make sure the bike is going to 'fit' you. Physical fit is easy to determine, but you also need to find a bike that “fits” your riding style. You wouldn't want to spend your hard earned money on something that isn't comfortable, would you?

Where you set the angle of your seat is also something to consider. The seat is designed to be tilted any way you want it to. Some cyclists are more comfortable in a slightly forward position, and therefore, find a completely flat seat inappropriate for them. Adjust your seat so that this is possible. You could leave it as it is, but the narrow part of the seat might not allow you check that to rest comfortably in a forward leaning position.

So many options are available to you as you shop for a new bike. From how safe the bicycle is to what it looks like, there are lots of choices to make. If you feel like you are being deluged by choices, you are perfectly normal. A little time spent looking into the choices will allow you to relax and buy the best bike for you.
